The center finely decorated in the miao jin zhaoqi technique with a scene of scholars on horseback and their attendants approaching a walled compound where other figures can be seen in the various buildings, below panels of gilt-basketweave surrounded by painted gold diaper on the flared, shallow sides, the facets of the exterior painted with vignettes of various flowers and fruits, the bottom of the foot covered in toffee-colored lacquer, the base in brown lacquer
