A RARE PAIR OF SMALL WHITE JADE FLANGED CYLINDRICAL BEADS
LATE EASTERN ZHOU/EARLY WESTERN HAN DYNASTY, 3RD CENTURY BC
Each cylindrical bead incised with double rows of spiralled scrolls and rope-twist borders between the three triangular flanges carved in the round as recumbent animals, the translucent white stone highly polished and with a few small areas of brown color

These very rare, finely carved and polished beads of unusual form are similar to one excavated in 1997 from Western Han tomb No. 2, Xie village, Yizheng, Jiangzu province, illustrated in Han Guangling Guo Yuqi, Beijing, 2003, p. 110, no. 86.
