For a soup plate from this service, see Christie's, New York, 23 January 2004, lot 170. According to Fuchs and Howard, op. cit., this service is the earliest known example of armorial porcelain based on a bookplate, and the Chinese painter most likely did not realize that the surrounding gilt and black square was not part of the arms.
