Painted with the well-known scene showing small figures climbing haystacks and a tall ladder to reach the top of a Dutch row-house, an unruly crowd at the side with a cannon before them, the border with floral and fruit clusters on a wan-fret ground, the back with formal lotus scroll border and a six-character Chenghua mark

An example is illustrated by Hervoüet & Bruneau, op. cit., p. 204 who note that this is the earliest known example of Chinese porcelain ordered with a historical/political subject. This plate depicts the demolition of the house belonging to the Chief Baillif, Jacob Zuylen van Myevelt, on 4 October 1690, during the riots in Rotterdam, which were sparked by the brutal execution of Cornelis Kosterman, a young guard at the City Hall, whom the townspeople believed innocent.
