In 1848 Landrin Georg Matveevich founded a confectionery which produced rock candies and caramel. As his products gained popularity, he opened a range of sweet shops in St. Petersburg. Landrin's Confectionery was one of the major factories producing sweets, along with those of Conradi, T. Beranger, F. Balas, and was extremely popular among the people of St. Petersburg before the Revolution.
