André-Pierre Lupiac, né en 1873 à Toulouse, entre dès l'âge de 17 ans à l'école des Beaux-Arts où il obtient le second grand prix en 1893 avec son Télémaque vainqueur de Périandre (lot 36). A partir de 1897, il étudie dans les Ateliers de Jean-Paul Laurens, puis de Benjamin Constant, débutant au Salon des Artistes Français en 1900. En 1905, il est co-fondateur de la Société des Artistes Méridionaux. Il se retire définitivement à Castanet, en 1923, jusqu'à sa mort.
