This pair of armchairs, carved from solid rosewood with pegged construction relate to examples made in Bombay. They derive from designs by Peter and Michael 'Angelo' Nicholson, The Practical Cabinet-Maker, Upholsterer and Complete Decorator, 1826, and Thomas King, Modern Designs Exemplified, 1829.
