De forme ovale, l'intérieur peint sur une face d'un paysage lacustre et montagneux, agrémenté d'un pavillon et d'arbres, le revers rehaussé d'une inscription calligraphiée à la fois en caractères kaishu et xingshu, signée Gan Huan et terminée par deux cachets, le bouchon en agate

And I befriend the landscape to pass the years'

The xingshu script inscription which is taken from the calligrapher Wang Xi Zhi's 'Seventeen Notes' may be translated as follow:
'I know you shall be traveling to Wu prefecture soon to assume your duties as the district magistrate. It will be far away and unsuitable as a residence. Will Uncle (Chi Yin's younger brother Chi Tan) be traveling westward soon? Hope to hear from you. Shi Shan Ren (Stone Mountain Man)'
