This dish relates closely to one in the Royal Ontario Museum which has very similar flowerheads drawn in dark blue over a light blue wash (Lisa Golombek, Robert B. Mason and Gauvin A. Bailey, Tamerlane's Tableware, Costa Mesa and Ontario, 1996, no.pl.72, col.pl.XV and cover). The ROM example has a variant of the same design in all three main divisions of the interior, while this has three different designs, giving it more movement, particularly in the centre.
