The Helmolt provenance, described by H.-U. Beck in Der unbekannte Zeichnungssammler Lugt 2986b identifiziert: Jacob Helmolt in Haarlem in Oud Holland, 107, no. 4, 1993, pp. 372-8, fits to other drawings by Cats in the same collection known to Beck, bearing Helmolt's nos. 447, 448 and 450, all dated 1791 by Cats.
