This is a sound sword in Mino style with the characteristic sanbonsugi [triple cryptomeria] hamon established in Mino province during the 16th century by Magoroku Kanemoto, whose school continued over several generations into the Edo period both in Mino and other provinces like Echizen. The work of Kanemoto was admired for its cutting efficacy, and swords by Kanemoto were highly acclaimed by the Yamano family of sword testers during the Edo period
