Robert Frank was impressed by the work of his compatriot Jakob Tuggener compiled in a handmade book of his photographs of elegant balls. Like his elder, Frank conveys a sense of the tedium of such events while portraying an intimate tender moment. Fine vintage prints from The Americans such as the present lot are very rare.
