"Sumptuous and majestic in a big, robust, almost massive style with intense fruit, powerful flavors and a mouth coating finish. The length here is stunning as it lingers and lingers on the palate and the wine has the size of a classic Hermitage with its huge buried tannins though they are not especially sophisticated in character. While this is undoubtedly impressive in its sheer size, it is not especially nuanced or complex at this point and while it will live for another 30 years, it is more for fans of really big scaled Burgundies than those who prize better overall balance, finesse and subtlety."
