"The 1990 Chambertin does not possess the unctuous, weighty richness and fragrance of either the 1990 Griottes or Clos St.-Denis, but it is still a generously endowed, amazingly rich wine, with a broad-shouldered, flashy, expansive texture, profound concentration, and a sweet fragrance of jammy black fruits, earth, and minerals. It should begin drinking well several years before the Griottes, and easily last for 2 decades. While not many burgundies today merit a special search of the marketplace, this certainly does! If, (1) you have survived our country's recession with some money to spend, (2) you do not mind parting with it, and (3) you love great Pinot Noir, then I cannot recommend too highly that you search the marketplace for a few bottles of the Domaine de Chezeaux's grands crus."
