The present example demonstrates how the Bikaner school of painting shows a strong relationship to the earlier Mughal style. After the Bikaner kingdom chose to ally themselves with the Mughals, they began to receive a steady stream of delegates from Delhi, including artists who stayed and contributed to the local painting ateliers. The shadowing of the faces, their costume, and even the large size and borders are all similar to earlier Mughal painting.
