The back profusely carved with an arcaded panel centred with foliage and rosettes below a pierced shell-centred scroll cresting, the arms on fluted supports above a twisting and dentil seatrail, on part fluted legs, the feet and stretchers renewed

The general form and some of the details on this chair, including the foliate carving and the dentil edge to the seat, are very similar to three chairs illustrated and discussed in the Temple Newsam catalogue Oak furniture from Gloucestershire and Somerset 1976, cat.no's 7, 9, and 11.
