Tasting note: This is the finest young vintage of de Fargues I have had the privilege of tasting. That should not come as a surprise given how extraordinary d'Yquem turned out in this vintage. The toasty, honeyed, rich bouquet is redolent of pineapples, coconut, crême brulée and coffee. In the mouth, this fabulously rich, full-bodied wine offers plenty of the botrytised, pineapple and other tropical fruit flavours, a lavish, unctuous texture, enough acidity to provide freshness and focus, and a heady, spicy, truly intoxicating finish.
