The only known candlestick of this type in pewter, compare with silver examples in for example Philippa Glanville, 'Silver in Tudor and Stuart England,' V & A publications, Fig. 207.
Compare with two brass examples in Christopher Bangs, The Lear collection Nos.105 & 105X, one catalogued as early 17th Century, the other second quarter 17th Century.
