Johann George Hossauer (1794-1874) opened a plant for making goods of platinum, gold, silver, bronze and gilt and silvered copper in the English style in Berlin in 1819 under the Royal patronage of King Wilhelm III. Royal commissions were also given to him by the eldest son of Queen Victoria, and he was awarded the Great Golden Medal for Arts and Science from the Prince of Wales. In 1858 he became Kommerzienrat and retired in 1859.
