Portrait of John K. Read

John Kearsley Read (1746-1805) was the son of John Read (1712-1786) and Martha Koyle (b.1720). Benjamin Franklin was his uncle and John entered the Philadelphia Academy at Franklin's urging. He eventually settled in Norfolk, Virginia, where he became mayor in 1800. He married and had three children.
