Contents of the renowned gallery, Malmaison Antiques, were sold for $1,838,687 at Christie's, New York, 26 November 2002. The antiques dealer Roger Prigent, formed his collection from Russian, French, Swedish, Italian and German sources. He mixed the eighteenth and nineteenth century furniture with distinguished 20th century French designs. These two commodes are typical of his taste for chic period French design which would blend well with the modern aspect of his gallery.
