Sir William Hannay Raeburn (1850-1934) was one of the most active ship owners in Glasgow in the early twentieth century and as a result he was a strong defender of ship owners' interests in the West of Scotland. He became a Member of Parliament for Dunbartonshire in 1918. His maritime interests are evident on his coat-of-arms which incorporates a trident and ships.
