The menusier Pillot was based in Nîmes. He advertised his business as '...vend toutes sortes de meubles, fauteuils à l'anglaise en médallion,...lits à la turque, ottomane, sofa,... commodes, table à la grecque,...à Nismes, près le Marché, no. 106...' (See P. Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Française du XVIIIe Siecle, Paris, 1998, p.654). His work is distinctive in the particular form of panelled square tapering leg as evidenced in these chairs.
