Fawley House in the Thames Valley was originally built in the 18th Century, but was largely re-designed by Quinlan Terry. It was, however, David McAlpine who created the eclectic collection comprising Oceanic, Tribal and Oriental Works of Art as well as traditional English furniture and paintings over 30 years that was dispersed in 2003. The house held a large collection of needlework panels, including a series made for Sir Thomas Taylour, 2nd Bt. (d. 1757), and his wife Sarah (d. 1757), of Kells, County Meath, Ireland.
