Of baluster form, the neck with a band of gilt and enamelled scrollwork flanked by two upright scroll handles with an applied raised pearl band and anthemion terminal, finely enamelled in the Renaissance style with Zeus seated upon the back of an eagle, chasing Cupid, the obverse with Hera holding a pomegranate, seated on a chariot drawn by two winged creatures, a winged nude male companion holding a torch at her side, on a conforming foot

Ernst August Leuteritz was employed at Meissen from 1836-1886 as a designer and later as Director of the modelling department. He developed this type of enamelled decoration in the mid-19th century in response to renewed interest in the Rennaisance style.
