Jester, faun, artist, buffoon, beau, devil - a single common denominator unites Picasso's alter egos in La Suite 347; they are simple onlookers, voyeurs, gazing as we do at the half-remembered, half-imaginary world before them. Contemplation is the recurring theme of the whole series, as we look in at Picasso, who in turn gazes at the world he has created.
