Edo period (19th century), the fourth inscribed Issando Joi and bearing seal Nagaharu
Comprising a shibuichi migaki-ji kozuka with three demons pulling a temple bell in iroe takazogan, the reverse with a pavilion and banners in silhouette in sumi hirazogan, gold hirazogan and kebori; a shibuichi migaki-ji kozuka with poets and poem cards in katakiribori; a shakudo nanako-ji kozuka with Daruma in gold and shakudo takazogan; a copper kozuka with Chinese general Kan'u in shishiaibori with gilt details; a shakudo nanako-ji kozuka with lotus flowers in gold and shakudo takazogan (5)

Howard Mansfield (1849-1938) was a lawyer with the New York law firm of Lord, Day and Taylor. He was a trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and served as treasurer from 1909 to 1929. His collection of Japanese art was acquired by the Metropolitan in 1936 as a combined gift and pruchase.
