This cherub mask cresting featured in Angus McBean's 1946 Christmas card in which he is depicted in a characteristic double self portrait. It was taken in his studio at 53 Endell Street, Covent Garden against a trompe l'oeil' wall decorated by L Roy Hobdell. The portrait is in the National Portrait Gallery collection (NPG P618).
