The curvy, yet somewhat restrained form of this commode, with its triple drawer configuration, is distinctive to mid-18th Century commodes from the Bologna region. Related commodes are illustrated in G. Manni, Mobili Antichi in Emilia Romagna, Modena, 1993, p. 137, figs. 283 and 285.
