Etienne Tavernier. A rare and interesting automatic gold calendar watch key
Signed Ets Tavernier. Late 18th Century
The mechanism contained in a gold surround with ribbed band, ring pendant and glazed both sides, the white enamel dial with the days of the week and the date, the reverse with a polished gilt dial plate with an aperture revealing the moon on an enamelled rotating disk and a pointer indicating the age of the moon, the mechanism operated by a plunger in the keywind which activates a toothed wheel and each time the key is used, the day and date and aspect of the moon is turned by one tooth
