See D.S. Howard, CAPI, p. 618, where the author notes that the Earls of Glasgow descended from John Boyle of Caleburne in Ayrshire, living in 1417, whose descendant, David, was made Earl of Glasgow in 1703. The same work illustrates a plate from the Rattray service, p. 365, which was decorated with a central fruit sprig.
