Each with two pierced foliate circles on a foliate border; with a set of of three brass and steel fire irons, early 19th Century, comprising: a pair of tongs, a pierced shovel and a poker; and a pair of andirions converted from the handle and upper part of a pair of tongs
The first pair of andirions - 22½ in. (57 cm.) high
The shovel - 30¾ in. (78 cm.) long
The second pair of andirons - 14 in. (36 cm.) high (7)

The Charles II-style iron andirons are concealed behind golden brass medallions, which are filigreed with flower pots in the Louis Quatorze Roman fashion. The pattern is taken from the celebrated Haddon Hall andirons , which were engraved in Richard Bridgens' Furniture with Candelabra and Interior Decoration, 1838 (F. Lenygon, Decoration in England, 1914, 2nd ed. 1927, fig 258 and K. H Mantell, Haddon Hall, Derby, 1987, p.15). Another pair are illustrated in R. Gentle and R. Field, English Domestic Brass, London, 1975, fig.139).
