Swedish or German, early 18th Century
With straight tapering single-edged blade, back edged towards the point, the base etched and gilt on each face with the initials 'FRSJLZH' and three crowns, the hilt of gilt brass, comprising a downturned, shaped shell, short rear quillon terminating in a hound's head, slender knuckle-guard incorporating a female term, and domed cap-pommel, cast and chased in relief throughout with hunting-scenes and foliage including an equestrian bear-huning scene on the shell, curved wooden, reeded quip, with deep ferrules en suite with the rest of the hilt at top and bottom, in original scabbard with chape and mouth-locket en suite with the hilt, the latter with side-pocket for a by-knife and fork, with handles also en suite with the hilt, the knife-blade struck with a mark
