The field with eight tan, chestnut and ochre bands each containing a large serrated panel in similar colouring containing linked serrated hexagons, all divided by minor ivory bands of serrated leaves, a few scattered repairs

Three other kilims with very comparable designs have been published (Yanni Petsopoulos and Belkis Balpinar: 100 Kilims, exhibition catalogue, London, 1991, no.63; J.Mellaart, U. Hirsch and B. Balpinar: The Goddess from Anatolia, Milan, 1989, vol.I, p.81, fig.3; B. Frauenknecht: Early Turkish Tapestries, Nürnberg, 1984, pl.39. While the third of these was woven in two panels, the present example is also more similar to the first two in its minimal use of blue tones.
