A PAIR OF ORMOLU-MOUNTED SEVRES STYLE DRUM-SHAPED VASES AND COVERS
SPURIOUS SEVRES MARKS, SCRIPT E AND M MARKS, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY
Each with domed covers, painted with raised-gilt cartouches of pink peony, the vases flanked by upright scroll-bracket handles suspending hop-vine swags, terminating with satyr-masks, the tapering necks painted with panels of figures playing instruments within Chinoiserie landscapes, the reverse painted with huts before a river, within shaped oval raised-gilt cartouches painted with peony and iron-red feathers within C-scrolls and shaped green-diaper-pattern panels, the mid-section painted with groups of figures fishing before a hut, playing instruments, the reverse with similar landscape vignettes, within raised-gilt and scroll shaped rectangular cartouches, on socles decorated with lesser landscape vingettes, the canted square ormolu bases moulded with garlands and panels of hanging pendant flowerheads
