with papier-mâché head, smiling mouth with painted teeth, brown glass eyes, articulated eyelids and black hair wig, seated on the back of a white-painted wood chair, the going-barrel movement playing one air and causing the figure to turn and nod his head, strum the banjo with his right hand and lift and cross his right leg, in original shirt, jacket and polychrome striped breeches -- 22½in. (57cm.) high, with Vichy key, (breeches decayed, one toe missing)
