Thomson's "Absolute" Electrometer, the lacquered brass cover with marbled finish, the central vertical scale adjusted by rotating the upper control and viewed through the side window with fixed magnifier, other finely balanced controls with magnifiers, the outer cylindrical glass cover with lead zinc covering (some minor scratches), the base with universal bubble level and mountings for the glass insulator rod and central support, the horizontal scale adjusted from below by fine screw rod, with makers plaque signed Sir Wm. Thomson's Absolute electrometer, ?12?17, James White, Glasgow, the tripod stand with three levelling screws - 27½in. (70cm.) high
