The undersides incised with factory mark of crossed swords and various serial numbers
The king -- 3¼in. (8.2cm.) high; the pawn -- 1in. (2.5cm.) high
And an inlaid ivory and dark hardwood board, second half 20th century -- 13in. (33cm.) wide

拍品专文

The sculptor Max Esser (1885-1943), was given a studio at the Meissen factory in 1920. This allowed him, as a freelance artist, the opportunity to work in both porcelain and Böttger ware. He achieved acclaim for his impressive animal figures and won the Grand Prix at the Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques dans la Vie Moderne of 1937 in Paris.
