Cindy Crawford's decision to pose for Playboy came not long after seeing her friend Paulina Porizkova's 1987 pictorial and Herb Ritts' shoot with Brigitte Nielsen later that year. In a 1993 interview for the magazine, Crawford reflected back on her decision, "When I did Playboy, I got letters from women who didn't consider it feminist to do nude photographs. I thought the whole point of being a feminist was that you got to make your own choices."
