Bernard Sleigh worked as a mural decorator, stained glass designer and as chief wood engraver to fellow polymaths of the Birmingham school, including Joseph Southall and Arthur Gaskin. Stephen Wildman calls Sleigh 'the most visionary' of the group in his catalogue to the 1990 exhibition The Birmingham School (Birmingham City Art Gallery).
Enna is the mythical location where Pluto captures Ceres's daughter Prosperine and takes her to the Underworld; afterwards she returns for the spring of each year.
