AN EXCEEDINGLY RARE LE MONTRACHET
In 1978 M. Pierre Ramonet achieved his life's dream, the payment in cash for a parcel of the world's most sacred white burgundy terroir, Le Montrachet. With his minute 0.63 acre (enough to make about four and half barrels) less than 100 cases were released in the inaugural vintage and production rarely exceeds 140 cases. Most particular to the buyer however are the various labels under which Pierre and his son André have released this specific wine and subsequent vintages released by André's sons, Jean-Claude & Nöel. Ramonet-Prudhon, André Ramonet, and currently S.C.E. Domaine Ramonet labels are in fact harvested and vinified from very same parcel of Le Montrachet as confirmed by the Estate. Lucie Prudhon was mother to André and wife to Pierre. Of his 1978 vintage all three labels are in existence, of which approximately 35 cases of the Ramonet-Prudhon label on green bottles (see cover illustration) are thought to exist. Very Rare indeed!
