A fine and large French ormolu, patinated bronze and carrara marble three-piece garniture
Manufactured by Lemerle-Charpentier et Cie., Paris, Circa 1870
Comprising a mantel clock and pair of eleven-light candelabra, the clock with circular drapery-bound case surmounted by a Diana mask and laurel sprigs, centred by a white enamelled dial with Roman and Arabic chapters and twin-train movement, inscribed CHARPENTIER & CIE/BRONZIERS/A PARIS/RUE CHARLOT 8, with bowed glazed bezel door, supported by two Classically-draped nymphs and Cupid, on a guilloche and oak-leaf-clasped reeded base and shaped marble plinth, on paw-cast and toupie feet, the works stamped CHARPENTIER/FT DE BRONZES/436/A PARIS, the candelabra modelled en suite with a nymph holding a Classical vase issuing the scrolled candlearms, drilled for electricity
