Most teapots of this type and decoration are enamelled with a central bird in blue enamels, following closer the kakiemon prototype. It is rare to find a green, aubergine and yellow-glazed bird as the one in the above lot. A smaller example with a blue bird is illustrated in Nagatake Takeshi, Hizen toki no keifu (Lineage of Hizen Porcelain), Tokyo, 1974, pl. 24.
