A YEOMANRY OFFICER'S PRESENTATION SWORD

With wide curved flat-sided blade, bearing remains of richly-gilt decoration, etched figure of Britannia, pre-1801 royal arms, trophies and the inscription, 'The Gift Of The Second Troop Of The Attorney's Cavalry To Christopher Abbott Esq, Their Captain As a Mark Of Their Respect And Esteem' (some nicks to edge of blade and severe pitting to lower end), ornate gilt-brass hilt generally in the style of a Lloyds Patriotic Fund sword, with crosspiece in the form of a fasces, écusson bearing an eagle and thunderbolt, wire-bound leather grip, and backstrap with cast decoration, incorporating a monster's head pommel, in its green snakeskin scabbard with ornate gilt-copper mounts, the reverse of the locket inscribed 'Prosser (late Cullum) Sword Cutler &c to the King & HRH Duke of York, Charing Cross', the long chape incorporating the middle band and with a snakeskin insert
