This detail shows two Ionic capitals, one still attached to the top of the column, but lying on the ground. Presumably these were amongst the most easily identifiable of the many fragments littering the site, but they may have been partially hidden under other rubble. The dark shadows give the impression that the photographer had to point the camera down into a deep space. The image is a challenging one, even to modern eyes, and the correct orientation is not clear.

There are no other similar images from Aphrodisias in the photographer's archive.
