An English ebonised and brass-mounted striking bracket clock, late 17th century and with later movement
The case with handle to pierced repoussé brass basket and urn finials to the angles (one lacking), glazed sides panels within repoussé frames, further brass mounts to the door rails, on stepped base (part later), the 6¾in. square brass dial with winged cherub spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with sword-hilt half hour markers, signed John Ebsworth London, matted centre with ringed winding holes, square date aperture with scroll-engraved borders, steel hands now black painted, strike/not strike above 60, now with 20th century twin barrel movement with anchor escapement and strike on bell -- 15½in. (39.5cm.) high to hilt of handle
