The case with brass handle and spire finials to inverted bell top, decorated in gilt against a green ground and embellished with panels of prints, various losses to decoration, the 7in. wide brass dial with foliate spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with mock pendulum aperture (now covered) and square date aperture, blued steel hands (later hour), the arch with subsidiary rings for regulation and strike silent, with engraving to the centres and signed on a plaque between John Elliott/PLYMOUTH, the five pillar twin gut fusee with restored verge escapement and strike on bell, lacking trip repeat, the back plate engraved with floral scrolls -- 20¾in.(53cm.) high to hilt of handle
