The interior finely carved with Shoulao, the god of Longevity, flanked by two attendants standing on the veranda of a pavilion as he looks out at the Eight Immortals (Ba Xian) gathered in a garden setting, three of the immortals, Li Tieguai, Han Xiangxi and Cao Guojiu, shown floating above the others amidst trailing red vapor which also surrounds a pagoda nestled amidst rocks and trees in the distance, all carved through the black and red layers to diaper grounds representing the air and land, the shallow, petal-lobed sides carved inside and out with a repeating design of birds perched on flowering branches, the conforming foot and base covered in brown lacquer
