A Model of the Steam Yacht Niagara

A large scale model of this steam yacht built up in solid hull construction with white painted topsides a gold waterline and a green bottom. The fore deck of the model is mahogany veneer which has been scored to simulate deck planking and is fitted with numerous details which include: hand rails, bollards, anchors, coils of line, ladders, anchor windlass, deck hatches, companionway, running lights, binnacle, search light, ship's wheel, ventilators, funnel, 8 ship's boats rigged on davits, port holes on hull and on cabin tops, skylights, docking wheel, flagstaff, propeller and more. The model is rigged with three masts in a barkentine configuration with standing and running rigging, cross spars, stun'sail booms, gaffs and other rigging details. The model is displayed on two brass pedestals in a mahogany framed glass case glass case and stand.

The Niagara was a twin screw barque designed by W.G. Shackford and built by Harlan & Hollingsworth Company in Wilmington, Delaware. She was owned by Howard Gould and her homeport was New York. Her principle dimensions were 99 LOA, 13.8 Beam, 5.3 Draft, with a Gross Tonnage of 1,443.
