Fangdings, with a classic and a beautifully overall laid out overall taotie design are very rare. A fangding in the Hakutsuru Art Museum Kobe, with similar flanges and similarly decorated legs is illustrated by Umehara in Nihon Shucho Shina Kodo Seikwa, vol.III, pl. CXCVII. Compare also with a tetrapode from the Vanderbilt Collection, with more angular horns and plain legs, illustrated by Watson, Ancient Chinese Bronzes, London 1962, pl.29a. and a fangding in the Shanghai Museum with more prominent flanges, illustrated in Rites et Festins de la Chine Antique, Bronzes du Musée de Shanghai, Paris 1999, p.107, pl.21.
